Malta Dental and Medical Clinic reopens in new, larger location
May 7, 2025
The Malta Dental and Medical Clinic has re-commenced dental, medical, and vision services for the uninsurable of Metro Detroit at 10301 Woodward Avenue in Detroit, just across the street from the Cathedral of the Most Blessed Sacrament.
Volunteer dentists perform exams, extractions, fillings, cleanings, and provide partials and dentures. Volunteer doctors treat diabetes, high blood pressure, wounds, and asthma. Volunteer ophthalmologists perform eye exams and provide prescription glasses. An off-site audiologist performs exams and provides hearing aids. All at no cost to the patient.
“We’re very pleased with the new location and the opportunity to once again partner with other charitable services,” said Thomas V. Larabell, Malta Clinic Board President and CEO. “Once renovations are completed at the new building, we’ll be able to serve at least 25 percent more patients.”
The Clinic shut down operations in September 2024 due to the move and is now ramping back up. The new building also houses a food pantry and clothes closet run by Catholic Charities of SE Michigan, a prison outreach ministry, a jail ministry, and a food ministry for those living on the streets.
